Architecture Building of The Vortex in London by Make Architects

This is Architecture Building of The Vortex where located in London. This dramatic, 72 storey, ‘twisting’ tower is the vision of Ken Shuttleworth of Make Architects. Listen to ‘on the move’ and find out more about the rationale behind his design. Shuttleworth, “A hyperboloid by rotation is an unusual form for a tower, but it has distinct advantages. It gives larger floor plates at the top and bottom, the parts of a tower that command the highest rents. The surface of the tower is constructed from inclined, but straight, columns that intersect to form a simple and efficient structure. The shape also minimizes wind loads. The Vortex will use wind driven turbines, photovoltaic panels and ground water cooling to minimize the reliance on fossil fuels.
