This is Architecture building of Oriental Arts Centre In Shanghai by Paul Andreu Architect. The project comprises three auditoria; 1,979 seat philharmonic orchestra hall, a 1200 seat opera hall and a 330 seat chamber music hall. The building’s three exterior ‘tea cup’ envelopes utilise a special glass diffused with perforated aluminium sheet reducing incident light transmission at higher levels. This gives the building its ‘other world’ appearance and as Andreu describes, “They house and protect them (the performances) as one might protect a place that is precious and fragile.” Managing to create this sense of fragility on a building of this magnitude is another indication of excellent design.
